About the Awards
In conjunction with the launch of his book, “Rediscover Your Heart: 7 Keys for Personal and Planetary Transformation” (2008, Findhorn Press), the author teamed up with the Global Youth Action Network and Chat the Planet to offer twelve (12) $2,500 Rediscover Your Heart Awards to individuals or groups with creative, innovative and heartfelt projects that are empowering and replicable, and improve the New York City community or lives of people living in it.
About the Author
Fred Matser is a humanitarian who, like many others, cares deeply about the future of the planet. He has made it his life's work to contribute towards creating a more functional society by inspiring and empowering others. Towards this end he has been a (co-)initiator, (co-)creator and (co-)financer on a wide range of projects and foundations, including Peace Child, Child Alive Program for Red Cross, The Fred Foundation, Peace Flame, the Twinkling Eyes Club and others, all of which address issues of healthcare, environment, conservation, peace and global transformation. Matser has received several awards, including the first international Caring Award (also awarded to Mother Teresa and Dr. Jane Goodall). Throughout his work, Matser has had the privilege of working closely with such inspiring individuals as Mikhail Gorbachev, Ruud Lubbers, Jane Goodall, Patch Adams and Jerry Jampolsky. Matser currently is Chairman of Malaria no More! Netherlands, and remains involved with other projects and foundations.

Outside of his business career Matser had some extraordinary transcendental experiences that set him on a journey of personal discovery. His global travels opened his heart and mind to the needs of humanity and he has since dedicated his life to philanthropic work that supports inspired change and greater consciousness in the fields of health, social change, education and the environment.

About the Fred Foundation
The Fred Foundation was founded by Fred Matser in 1996 to contribute to the development of a more functional society by supporting and empowering individuals and groups. The Fred Foundation has initiated many projects in the Netherlands and other countries that address the environment, health, childcare, energy research, community development and humanitarian aid. Through the StartFund (formerly known as CIE Program), Fred Foundation has provided financial support to individuals and groups for the realization of inspiring projects in the fields of integral healthcare ('in-vironment') and the environment.
